AMA completes sUAS website to assist sUAS hobbyists with learning to fly and operate safely

MUNCIE, IN – The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is proud to announce a new resource available for all sUAS users.  If you’ve recently purchased a drone, this website will help you understand WHAT to Know Before You Fly: suas.modelaircraft.org.

“The AMA’s sUAS program website is an important tool for keeping our fun and educational hobby safe for everyone,” said Bill Pritchett, AMA’s education director.  “We will share up-to-date information as the AMA, in agreement with the FAA, continues to establish appropriate safety guidelines for emergent technologies, like drones, and novel facets of aero-modeling activity. In order to promote safety, all this information is available to the general public for free on our website.”

This new resource will help everyone:

  • Learn how and where to safely operate a drone
  • View a  detailed map of the United States showing thousands of flying locations (including AMA clubs)
  • Make FAA registration easier, and
  • Share your own drone zone stories and experiences.

You’re now the Pilot in Command – take charge of being informed!  Please visit the website suas.modelaircraft.org to get started.
