GoPro’s recalled Karma drone gets new life
GoPro to Resume Sales of Its Karma Drone, Company had recalled drones in November when some devices lost power during flight
LAS VEGAS — GoPro Inc. is giving its drone another chance to take flight.
The company Wednesday said this year it will resume sales of the Karma, a key component in the company’s plan to diversify beyond action cameras.
GoPro GPRO, +2.85% had recalled the drone in November, shortly after launch, when some devices lost power during flight. GoPro issued refunds and didn’t offer replacements. At the time, the company didn’t say when the device would return to market.
At the CES technology show Wednesday, GoPro said the power loss was due to a mechanical issue related to the drone’s battery. The company said it is wrapping up tests of the drone and will provide more details about the relaunch early in February. GoPro shares were little changed in after-hours trading after the announcement.
